Your Use Of The Site
You acknowledge that the primary purpose of the Site is to facilitate the rehoming of animals and the sale of accessories and services within the UK. The Site is not provided for the purpose of helping you or your business generate profit.
If you are advertising pets on the platform, you agree that you have consulted with your local council’s animal licensing team regarding your licensing requirements and have obtained the necessary animal activities licence. You confirm that this information has been entered into your account details, and you have uploaded a copy of your valid licence.
(Site refers to Janetpets.co.uk, its subdomains, and the Janetpets apps.)
Company Account
You warrant and agree that:
You are legally authorized and capable of entering into binding contracts on behalf of the company you represent.
You will not use the Site to rehome any animals, either as a seller or a buyer.
(Site refers to Janetpets.co.uk, its subdomains, and the Janetpets apps.)
General Ad Posting Rules You warrant and agree to comply with the following conditions when posting any advert on Janetpets:
Any pets you advertise must be owned or bred by you, unless you are a registered charity or rescue organization on Janetpets.
To meet PAAG’s minimum standards, we reserve the right to refuse any advert(s) that may compromise these standards.
We enforce age restrictions for rehoming pets, following animal welfare guidelines. Dogs, cats, rabbits, and ferrets must not be separated from their mother before 8 weeks of age, and chinchillas must be at least 12 weeks old. Foals must be at least 6 months old before leaving their mother.
If you are advertising a litter, the litter must be advertised together, and a photo of the litter with their mother must be uploaded. This applies to dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and chinchillas.
Adverts must be posted in the correct category, and the pet’s full breed must be disclosed for transparency with the buyer. Crossbreeds must be listed in the appropriate crossbreed category or the mixed breed category, with the breed mix clearly mentioned in the description.
All photos uploaded must be of the actual pet you wish to rehome, not copied or downloaded from other sources.
Adverts must not promote or imply that pets are gifts or presents, including for holidays like Christmas, Easter, or Valentine’s Day.
Pets must be located in the UK, and the images and location stated in the listing must reflect the pet’s current and permanent location.
Rescue pets from abroad may only be advertised by a registered charity account if the pets are currently in the UK, with all required documentation and vaccinations/microchipping as per UK standards and law.
Pets imported to the UK for the purpose of being sold are not allowed to be advertised. However, older pets imported legally as your own pet but now needing rehoming may be advertised, provided the country of origin is stated in the advert.
Pets under 6 months old that have been imported are not allowed to be advertised under any circumstances.
Pregnant pets, or pets suspected to be pregnant, may not be advertised. This includes horses.
Advertisements seeking to swap or exchange pets are not permitted.
Adverts promoting selective breeding or extreme conformations/features in pets are not allowed.
Each advert will remain live on the platform for 60 days from the date of submission. After expiration (or once all pets are reserved/sold), you must close the advert. If necessary, a new listing with updated information can be created. You may not reuse the same listing with modified details for different pets or litters.
All health and welfare issues associated with a pet being rehomed must be clearly identified in the advert.
Advertisements offering delivery or courier services for pets are not permitted. Pets must be collected at the home where the mother lives, and pets must be available for viewing at your home or place of business.
Large commercial breeding of pets is not allowed, regardless of licensing status.
Anyone under 18 is not permitted to use the website to contact an advertiser. If you are advertising a pet, you must ensure that anyone adopting or buying your pet is at least 18 years old.
We reserve the right to decline any adverts, ban, close, or suspend a user’s account if we suspect inappropriate behavior or unethical breeding, which is not limited to the rules above.
If you violate any of the above rules, we may end any or all of your adverts and close your account.
(Site refers to Janetpets.co.uk, its subdomains, and the Janetpets apps.)
Dog/Cat Specific Ad Posting Rules
In addition to the general posting rules, you agree to follow these specific guidelines when listing any puppies, dogs, kittens, or cats on Janetpets:
All dogs must be microchipped by 8 weeks of age, and cats by 20 weeks.
If you’re selling a litter, you must be able to show the entire litter to prospective buyers along with the mother, and ideally the father too.
Litters must be listed under a single advert when rehoming them.
We do not allow advertisements that promote pets bred for certain exaggerated features. Terms such as ‘Micro,’ ‘Big-Rope,’ ‘Teacup’ (or similar), ‘Miniature’ (unless it is a recognized miniature breed), ‘Designer,’ and other related descriptors will result in the removal of the ad.
Advertisements for banned dog breeds will not be accepted. These include Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, and as of 30 December 2023, XL Bully breeds are also prohibited.
Only family pets may be listed. Ads for dogs used as guard dogs, security-trained dogs, or those used primarily for hunting or protection are not allowed.
Pets with cropped ears are not permitted for sale or stud.
Ads for services like artificial insemination or spaying/neutering procedures are not allowed.
Activities such as puppy/kitten yoga or similar events cannot be promoted through our platform.
We do not permit any co-ownership, rental, or loan arrangements for pets outside the stud category.
Pets cannot be sold for breeding purposes, including selling a stud dog or a dog in season for that purpose.
No pet under 12 months old may be listed for stud or mating services.
We do not accept listings for double dapple or double merle dogs.
If the pet you’re listing is registered with a governing body such as the Kennel Club (for dogs) or GCCF (for cats), you must include that information in the advert and be prepared to provide relevant documentation if asked.
If you live in Scotland and breed three or more litters of kittens within a 12-month period, you must hold a valid cat breeder’s licence as required by Scottish regulations.
(Site refers to Janetpets.co.uk, its subdomains, and the Janetpets apps.)
Other Animals Ad Posting Rules
In addition to the general ad posting rules, you agree to adhere to the following conditions when posting any advert for animals other than dogs or cats on Janetpets:
You will not offer live vertebrates for rehoming if they are intended to be used as food.
If you are advertising an animal listed under Annex A of the CITES regulations for endangered species (such as certain tortoises, snakes, and birds), you must clearly state in the advert that you hold a valid Article 10 certificate.
We do not allow adverts for any type of primates.
We do not accept adverts for wild-caught animals or any species covered by the Dangerous Wild Animals Act.
The following species are not permitted to be advertised: Anacondas, Burmese Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, African Rock Pythons, Spider Morphs, or Enigma Morphs.
All horses advertised must be microchipped and have a valid passport as required by UK law.
In horse advertisements, any rider shown in the photographs must wear a riding helmet and appropriate footwear.
(Site refers to Janetpets.co.uk, its subdomains, and the Janetpets apps.)
Breeding and Licences
If you are advertising dogs for sale and are required by law to hold a breeding licence from your local council, you must ensure that you: i) have a Breeder account, ii) have uploaded a clear photo of your licence, iii) have entered your licence number and its expiration date, iv) have provided the name of the issuing local authority.
If we suspect that you are required to have a licence but have not provided your licence details on your account page, we reserve the right to decline your adverts and report this to your local authority.
Pet shop licence holders are only allowed to advertise puppies or kittens for sale if they hold a valid breeding licence and have bred the animals themselves within the UK.
(Site refers to Janetpets.co.uk, its subdomains, and the Janetpets apps.)

If we receive complaints about your account, you must resolve them to the satisfaction of both the customers and us.

Contacting An Advertiser
You acknowledge and agree that we do not verify the truth or accuracy of any statements made by advertisers on Janetpets.
It is your responsibility to independently verify all claims and documents provided by any advertiser.
You confirm that you have read the buyer’s checklists available on the Site and on every pet advert, especially the advice to never send money online unless using Janetpets’ Pet Payments service. You acknowledge that we have no way of verifying the honesty of advertisers, and if you choose to send money using other online services, we are not responsible for any loss you may incur.
You should ensure that the advertiser is a legitimate individual by visiting the pet at the advertiser’s home. If the advertiser makes excuses, asks for money or a deposit without allowing you to see the pet, or suggests delivering the pet or meeting you at a location other than their home, you should decline.
Always use our secure in-platform messenger system to communicate with advertisers. Do not accept invitations to use alternative messaging services like WhatsApp or email. Our system is secure and allows for sharing high-resolution images and videos. You also agree not to use offensive language, spam users, or use our messenger system for automated or commercial purposes. We reserve the right to filter or block suspicious messages before they reach the recipient, and we may block users who misuse the messaging system.
